Shijia Restaurant,building in Qianlong Dynasties(1790),lies on NO 18 Zhongshi Street,Mudu Town.It was named Xvshunlou Restaurant or Shixvshun.The founder is Shi Han.He and his wife managed this restaurant with a small capital.On 1920's,Shi Ren'an,great-grandson of Shi Han, took over the restaurant.He Rebuilt restaurant.The dining room and cookroom faced to each other on both sides of street.We serve the Tai lake fishes.Our unique menu system including ten known dishes is called "The Shi Dishes".On 1929,Mr Li Gengyuan renamed it Shijia Restaurant and wrote down epigraph for Shijia signboard(the plaque on door),jingsu dishes,kinds of westen-style cakes,homely dishes,and Bafei Soup.Then Mr Ye Gongchuo and Shao Yuanchong wrote other two signboards(the steles at two banks). On autumn 1919 ,Yu Youren left Suzhou for Guangfu to visit Tai lake and view sweet-scented osmanthus.When they returned to Suzhou ,they entered Shijia Restaurant and degusted Bafei Soup.The soup is so delicious that Yu Youren can't help writing the following poem"sweet-scented osmanthus is sweet when it blossoms out,view sweet-scented osmanthus around Tai lake,recall my returning to Mudu,I still want to degust Bafei Soup again".On the next day,the Shanghai ewspaper"NEWS" published this poem.From then on ,the Shijia Bafei Soup come to front.On 1934, Yu Youren degusted Bafei Soup again.After dinner,he inscribed the signboard"well-known in Jiangnan",which stands up on counter now.Shijia Restaurant became well-known all over the country.During Minguo Times,many celebrity had come to Shijia Restaurant,such as Li Zhongren,Li Jishen,Shen Junru,Zhang Zhizhong,Shao Lizi,Ye Chucang,Sha Qianli,Shi Liang,and so on.Li Zhongren inscribed for Shija Restaurant "equallity and caritas,happy with civilian".Even the famous Huang Jinrong and Du Yuesheng also patronized Shijia Restaurant when they visited Tai lake every year.The noted aritists,such as Gai Jiaotian and Zhou Xinfang ,Jing Shengbo,Zhang Daqian,often came to Shija Restaurant.

　　 On 1959,comerade Deng Xiaoping degusted Shjia Dishes during his visiting to Suzhou.On 26 September,1990,Fei Xiaotong,Deputy Commettee Member to The National People's Congress,inspected Shijia Restaurant and inscribed"taste rising from the bottom of hearts"He also wrote a paper "taste rising from the bottom of hearts_notes about Suzhou Mudu Bafei Soup",which was published in the magazine "China Cuisine",NO.1,1991.On september,1992,Peng Chong,Deputy Commettee Member to The National People's Congress, and Han Peixin,Director to The Jiangsu Privince People'Congress,both degusted Bafei Soup and inscribed "unique"&"rise"as a praise.On 3 October,1992, Fei Xiaotong patronized Shijia Restaurant again.After dinner, he wrote a poem"Lingyan Mountain faces to Fan Zhongyan Memorial Temple,sweet-scented osmanthus blossoms out on time,I am ebullience and write this poem to praise Shijia Bafei Soup"On September,2000, we establish a subsidiary restaurant in Jingshan Road, Mudu Town.The new subsidiary has a area over 2300 squre meters.
